Bearing specialists at the National Centre of Competence in Mechatronics and Smart Technologies for Mechanical Engineering

The purpose is to concentrate the capacities of individual members' research facilities in favour of solving complementary projects and developing commercialization activities within a common research agenda. This includes research programs on Advanced Materials, Surface Engineering and Tribology, Transport Phenomena and Energy, Additive Manufacturing, and Mechatronic Systems. Six research facilities of research organizations and twenty-five research facilities of companies are involved. The focus of NCK is based on a combination of interdisciplinary research specializations, the application of which is primarily targeted at engineering production for the 21st century.

Research activities bring significant progress in lubricating functional surfaces of bearings, utilizing advanced surface treatments and coatings, or mechatronic systems in bearing units to increase the reliability and efficiency of ZKL roller bearings. This aligns with the vision of the ZKL GROUP: 'To be the leading global manufacturer of technologically advanced bearings.'
